DHTML/Flash Dreamweaver menu extensions

We just added some new Dreamweaver extensions to our lineup. The extensions include DW Tabbed Menus , DW Drop Down Menus and DW Vertical Menus . These are all also available in the DW Menu Pack , which is simply the three individual extensions bundled at a discount. For a limited time, you can get DW Image Show free with the purchase of the DW Menu Pack.

We’ve never offered a Flash menu system on our site before, and these menus actually combine DHTML and Flash to create attractive, search engine friendly navigation. I know what you’re saying, “but Flash doesn’t spider very well, so how can it be SE friendly?”. When the menus are created from the extension in Dreamweaver, it automatically generates a very spiderable bit of code that allows all your favorite search engines to find all the pages in your site.

ThemeDreamer – Create WordPress themes in Dreamweaver

Our newest extension offering is ThemeDreamer from Virtuosoft.  We’ve been working with ThemeDreamer for several months and have been anxiously awaiting it’s release.  It’s still in beta, but you can download a trial which will deactivate upon the next release or buy ThemeDreamer at half of the final release price.

If you have ever tried designing a WordPress theme in Dreamweaver, you know it’s not very easy and the workflow is rather repetitive. Even with a local WordPress installation, you are continually editing, saving, previewing, re-editing, etc. ThemeDreamer takes a lot of the hassle out of creating WordPress themes by integrating with Dreamweaver’s design view. It takes the assortment of WordPress PHP files such as index.php, header.php, sidebar.php, footer.php, etc. and combines them to allow WYSIWYG editing in design view.

Learn to build database-driven websites in Dreamweaver and Expression Web

Comments are off

Eight years ago, after creating my first database powered website, I remember thinking man, this is cool stuff! Today, many dynamic PHP and ASP Dreamweaver sites later, I still have the same giggly, power-hungry feeling when I start coding the pages to display the database content. There is so much you can do with a simple database and a few lines of code, that static websites should be a thing of the past.

There is a really affordable set of database-driven website tutorials available from WebAssist that give you the foundation you need to start cranking out some really decent websites. The Database Starter Kits are available in PHP, ASP and .NET formats (.NET is currently available for Expression Web only) and they are only about ten bucks each. What you get with the starter kits is a complete interactive tutorial series that teaches the fundamentals of database website design, three complete databases (MySQL for PHP and Access for ASP and .NET) and a host of information that will get you started building your own dynamic websites.

Adobe Dreamweaver CS4 Reviews

Adobe released Creative Suite 4 on October 15th and it consists of upgraded versions of the world’s most popular design software. The sites listed below are a compilation of the various reviews we’ve seen for Dreamweaver CS4. So read the reviews and form your own opinion if CS4 is worth your hard earned cash.  In our opinion, it was worth every penny.

So what’s new in Dreamweaver CS4?

View Dreamweaver CS4 features at Adobe.com

As the Dreamweaver CS4 beta makes it’s way onto desktops, there have been some initial reviews and opinions of the beta posted that I wanted to put together in a single post. Dreamweaver CS4 reviews have been generally postitive with the usual beta version “I wish it had this” or “I wish they’d revamp this” but Dreamweaver is still the best website design software available, with many interface improvements to speed up workflow. I also included some video from Adobe TV demonstrating some of the really cool new features of Dreamweaver CS4.

ModXBlog WordPress theme available for download

We just completed a new WordPress theme called ModXBlog (we don’t know why). It’s a really clean theme that has a lot of nice touches added. It’s AdSense-ready so you can immediately start making a few bucks with your blog and it has three different widget-ready sidebar areas.

It comes pre-coded for use with Breadcrumb-NavXT and Rob Marsh’s Post Plugin Library. The single post pages support Rob’s Similar Posts plugin by default, so make sure you activate that plugin when you install the blog. If you don’t, no big deal, the related posts area just won’t show up under the posts.

We’re going to build on this one in the future, with different color schemes and subject themes so check back soon for more downloads.

You can preview ModXBlog or download it here.

AdSensation – a free AdSense-ready Dreamweaver template

Comments are off

We just posted the first of several free AdSense-ready Dreamweaver templates. AdSensation is a simple tableless layout that includes pre-styled code for the most popular AdSense ad block sizes. The template includes a prominant 728×90 leaderboard ad at the top of the page, a 160×600 skyscraper down the left sidebar and a 250×250 square block at the top of the content section. A CSS style is included for 428×60 banners and the code can easily be modified to fit any other AdSense ad size.

The navigation is pure CSS with code that is very easy to modify. The free template includes the original sliced and optimized Adobe Fireworks file, so creating a completely custom look should only take a matter of minutes.
